The Government of Mexico and UNOPS join forces to guarantee the health of the population
The Government of Mexico, through the Institute of Health for Well-being (INSABI), signed an agreement on July 31, 2020 with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to ensure the right to health through the consolidated procurement of medicines and medical supplies for the period 2021-2024. This agreement entered into force on August 11, 2020.
The international public bidding process will be implemented by UNOPS, in accordance with its regulations, rules, policies, and procedures. This is an open international procedure that guarantees open competition on a level playing field and allows for the participation of both the Mexican and international markets , ensuring a level playing field and fostering effective and transparent competition.
UNOPS contributions to the purchase of medicines and medical supplies
- Strengthening the public health system and promoting the well-being of the population, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda .
- By applying the principles of Fair and Equitable Public Management , the aim is to maximize transparency, efficiency and open competition in Mexico and internationally .

INSABI - UNOPS Agreement

- Management of the consolidated purchase of medicines and medical supplies , starting in the period 2021-2024.
- Strengthening institutional capacities in the area of public procurement , through alignment with global standards and quality certifications, and excellence in management.
